SIMHACHALAM TEMPLE/ACCOMMODATION AT SIMHACHALAM TEMPLE/SIMHACHALAM TEMPLE DARSHAN TIMINGS/SIMHACHALAM

SIMHACHALAM TEMPLE/ACCOMMODATION AT SIMHACHALAM TEMPLE/SIMHACHALAM TEMPLE DARSHAN TIMINGS/SIMHACHALAM

Simhadri or Simhachalam temple is a Hindu temple located near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, South India. It is dedicated to the incarnation (avatar) of Vishnu known as Narasimha (the man-lion).

Origin of the name
SIMHACHALAM NARISIMHA SWAMY
                                                   simhachalam-temple sky view
Simha: Lion ; Adri or Achala: Hill (one which cannot be moved, viz. hill).

Atop the hill is a famous temple said to be the abode of Varaha Narasimha Swami, and hence the hill itself is called (nara) simhachalam. The temple is situated in the city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Significance

It is one of the eighteen "Naarasimha Kshetras" i.e. shrines of Lord Narasimha in India. Simhachalam temple is known as the second richest temple in India (after Tirupati) earning a revenue of Rs. 520 million. The statue of the deity gives "nijaroopa darshan" (holy appearance in true form) for only 12 hours in a year i.e. on Akshaya Tritiya day, the rest of the time the statue is covered with Sandalwood paste. The darshan described as 'Chandana yatra' or 'Chandanotsavam' falls every year in Vaisakha masa (May).

Legend

Hiranyakasipu was a Rakshasa king. He was in fact one of Vishnu's Dwarapalakas or gate keepers in Vaikuntha, Jaya and Vijaya. They had to take birth in the mortal world thrice because of a curse given by Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanathana and Sanathkumara, who were not allowed to take darshan of Mahavishnu by them. The other palaka was born as his brother Hiranyaaksha.

Hiranyakasipu wanted to become immortal and hence performed austerities (tapasya) to propitiate Lord Brahma. However, Lord Brahma said that was not possible so Hiranyakasipu asked Lord Brahma to grant him a boon so that he could not be killed by any animal or a man neither in the morning nor in the night, by any weapons, neither in sky nor on the earth.

Hiranyakasipu wanted the entire world to worship him. But, Prahalada, his son, was a devotee of Lord Narayana and always expressed his bhakti towards Him. In spite of warning him several times, Hiranyakasipu could not alter Prahlada's devotion.

This made Hiranyakasipu angry and he made numerous attempts to get Prahlada killed. One of them was to throw him off the top of a mountain. However, Vishnu rescued him by moving the mountain and made a small path for Prahaladha. It is said that in the place where the Lord stood to protect Prahaladha is the place where the temple is built.

The most important thing about this temple is that here we can't see the God's feet. It is said that the feet is buried inside the earth. Lord Narayana came to rescue Parahalada on Garuda and when they threw Parahalada Lord Narayana jumped from Garuda to save him and in this process his feet went deep into the earth.

Temple History

Simhachalam Temple

It has Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy as the presiding deity.

Giripradhikshana [cirum ambulation] around the hill range [~40 km]from Hanumantha vaka / MVP colony to Simhachalam is done by piligrims during the auspicious days. Crowds of elderly people / youth / children are observed walking the 40 km stretch over night. They visit the temple after the long journey and give their offerings to the deity.

The deity at Simhachalam, the lion-man incarnation of Lord Mahavishnu is usually covered with sandalwood paste. The original shape of the deity in the tribhanga posture has two hands with the head of a lion on a human torso. An inscription dated as far back as 1098 AD of the Chola King Kuloththunga provides some clue as to its antiquity. Another inscription shows a Queen of the Eastern Ganga of Kalinga (ancient Orissa) (1137-56 AD) covering the image with gold while a third inscription says the eastern Ganga King of Orissa, Narasimha Deva, built the main/central shrine in 1267 A.D. With more than 252 inscriptions in Oriya and Telugu describing the antecedents of the temple, it is a historically important monument.

Sri Krishna Deva Raya after defeating the Gajapati ruler of Orissa Gajapati Prataparudra Dev visited the shrine twice in 1516 AD and 1519 AD and offered numerous villages for maintenance of bhogam (worship) along with valuable jewellery of which an emerald necklace is still in the temple. For the last three centuries the Royal family of Vizianagaram, "The Pusapati Gajapathi's" have been the temple's trustees.

Recent developments

In October 2007, the Government of Andhra Pradesh approved a master plan for the development of the region into Divyakshetram on similar lines of Tirumala.

Trivia

The Simhachalam temple faces West unlike so many others which face East. An east-facing entrance, according to religious belief, brings prosperity while a west-facing one brings victory.

The hill top road, as well as the location of the eastern ghat ranges are beautiful and pictersque. The hills are densely populated with trees of various types like Cashew, shrubs, mango groves etc., The forestry is protected and well conserved. The greenary is really good and attracts tourists as well as nature lovers for spending their leisure in praising the nature.

The localities near the piligrame include Srinivasanagar, Prahladapuram,Sainagar colony, Simhapuri colony and many other housing areas.

 Chandanotsavam or Nijaroopa Darshanam

Chandanotsavam or Nijaroopa Darshanam is a major ritual celebrated on Akshaya Trutiya day at Simhachalam Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple. In 2010, Chandanotsavam is observed on May 16, 2010. During Chandanotsavam, devotees can have Nijaroopa darshanam or the actual shape of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha swamy. On normal day, Simhachala Lord will be visible with Chandanam pootha (covering of sandalwood paste).

On Vaishakha Shudda Thadiya (the third day in Vaishakha masam), the real form of the Lord with wild boar’s face, human trunk and lion’s tail will be exposed to public view. Of the four layers of chandanam to be applied to the deity, the first layer is applied after sahasra ghatabhishekam at 9 p.m. on Akshaya Tritiya day. The second layer on Vaisakha Poornima, the third on Jyesta Poornima, and the final chandanam pootha on Ashada Poornima.

Akshaya Truthiya Chandanotsavam attracts millions of devotees from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Pondicherry, and Tamil Nadu.

Sri Bhimeswara Swami Temple, Draksharama/ Accommodation At Sri Bhimeswara Swami Temple, Draksharama/ Sri Bhimeswara Swami Temple, Draksharama Contact Phone Number

Sri Bhimeswara Swami Temple, Draksharama

Draksharamam is located 28 Km from Kakinada,50 Km from Rajahmundry and 25 Km from Amalapuram. Throughout the length and breadth of the Sacred "Mother India", there are many pilgrim centers. From amongst them "Draksharama" is the one in the Southern India on the Eastern Bank of the River Godavari. It is colloquially known as Draksharama carrying the implied meaning as "Draksharama" meaning the Abode of Daksha Prajapathi - the Father-in-law of Lord Siva and the beloved Father of 'Sati' the spiritual spouse of Lord Siva.
The history of the Sacred Pilgrimage is exhaustively dealt within the 'Skanda Purana' of Sri Vyasa. To give a brief narration of the same the story goes thus. Once Daksha Prajapathi decided to perform a Yaga. In pursuance of the same, he had been to Kailasa to invite Gods and Goddesses to sanctify his 'Yazna' and accept his hospitality. But when he had been there, Lord Siva was in his Court immersed in his spiritual splendour. But Daksha Prajapathi out of his ego of being the father-in-law of Lord Siva, mistook the Lord's trance as indifference towards him.

So, being put out at the difference of his Son-in-law he came back without inviting the Lord and the Lady to his sacrifice.
Sati in her womanish nature requested Siva to permit her to attend, the sacrifice at her parental home, even uninvited and have the pleasure of the performance and the association of her kith and kin. But Siva explained her the tragic implications that she might have to face at her parental house and let her to at her own wish. But, when she actually stepped into her parental home, none greeted her or even just asked her a mutual exchange of her well-being. Then Sathi was put out with the humiliation she had to face amidst her own blood and then and there, decided to give up her body instead of facing her beloved husband with a fallen face. So, she gave up her body then and there and fell down dead. Siva having come to know of the tragic end, sent his son 'Veerabhadra' to boot down the ego of Daksha. Siva in his pangs of separation with Sati came down to her dead body and shoultered the corpse over his shoulders and danced in 'Pralaya Thandava'.

At this juncture, the Lord Vishnu, the presenting, force of Universe, sent his 'Chakra' to cut down the body of Sathi and redeem the grief of Lord Siva. The Chakra came and cut the body of Sati into eighteen pieces feel in eighteen parts of this 'Punyabhoomi' of ours and came to be known as 'Ashta Dasa Peethas' and out of these eighteen Sri Manikyamba of Draksharama is the Twelfth.
This Holy Pilgrimage is one of the rare few, where the God and Goddess are equally important. One is Varanasi in Northern India with Viswanatha and Annapurna. Second is Srisailam in Southern India with Sri Mallikharjuna and Bramaramba and third is Draksharama with Bhimanatha and Manikyamba.

There are many mythological anecdotes scattered in many of the Sacred puranas about the 'Swayambhu' aspect of the Lord's existence here.

One of many is for once who is curious to know that Bhimanatha came down from Kailasa and settled here at the request of Parvathi herself who happened to be the daughter of Dakhsa. The historical aspect of the temple goes from the thirteenth century onwards.

This temple is one of the "Pancharamas". This is an ancient and holy pagoda. This is one of the reputed piligrim centers in Andhra Pradesh. Thousands of pilgrims and devotees visit the temple and worship the Lord to receive blessings.
This temple is a protected Monument. The Archaeological Department has to undertake the renovation works of this temple to create beauty and divine atmosphere. Ryali Sri Jaganmohini Kesava & Gopala Swamy Temple/Ryali Sri Jaganmohini Kesava & Gopala Swamy Temple/Ryali Sri Jaganmohini Kesava & Gopala Swamy Temple

                                                                      Ryali temple
Sthala Puranam

According to the legend "Bhagavatam" while Devatas and Rakshas were quarrelling over sharing of holy Devine nectar "Sree Maha Vishnu" came to the rescue of Devatas in the guise of Mohini and convinced both the rivalry groups promising to distribute holy Devine nectar in equal share to Devatas and Rakshas. But in the interest of universal peace and welfare of sages, holy and Devine nectar was distributed among Devatas alone and the Mohini disappeared.
Lord Siva having seen the most fascinating beauty of Mohini allured her. He chased her for getting for a while the presence of his consort Parvathi Devi it is the general belief that the holy incident was the result of birth of "AYYAPPA SWAMY". One flower from the plait of Mohini fell down and it was smelt by Lord Siva. Then he surprisingly found "Sree Maha Vishnu" in the form of Mohini and felt shy for his behavior. The place where the flower from the plait of Mohini fell is named as RYALI the Telugu meaning of "Fall".

This place known as Ryali for the above reason became above of Lord Siva and Sree Mahavishnu with the form of Mohini on back side Lord Brahma consecrated the Siva Lingam with his Kamandalam and hence Lord Siva at Ryali is worshipped as Sri Uma Kamandalesara Swamy Varu, Sri Mahavishnu with the form of Mohini on backside is worshipped as Sri Jaganmohini Kesava Swamy varu both Siva and Vishnu Temples are located facing each other. This is very rare feature at Ryali where Vishnu and Lord Siva Temples faces each other in East, West direction.
During 11th Century, this Ryali village was a part of wild Forest and these parts were under the rule of Chola Rajas. Sri Raja Vikrama Deva who ruling these parts during those days came to this place for hunting. Having been tired after hunting wild animals, he took rest under the shade of a big ponna tree, and fell in deep sleep and got a dream. Lord Sri Maha Vishnu appeared in his dream and informed that his shrine was located in the under ground of this area and directed the "Raja to get the wooden made chariot pull in the area and where the nail of chariot fell, the shrine can be found in the under ground of that place. Raja has done accordingly and the land where the nail of chariot fell was excaved and found the idol making the dream of Raja true. He constructed a small temple during 11th Century and arranged worship during his regime in Ryali . Gradually prakarams were developed in the year 1936 (Data nama Samvatsara) it was renovated.
The Shrine of Sri jaganmohini kesava Swamy varu is Salagrama Ekasila with 5 feet height and 3 feet width. Salgramasila is itself the form of Sri Maha Vishnu. The idol of Sree Kesava Swamy varu of "Sri Mahavishnu" in front side and Jagan Mohini on back side. The tem incarnations Lord Sree Maha Vishnu with consorts, Sri Devi, BhooDevi, Sage Narada, Thumbura, Rambha, Urvasi, Kinnera, Kimpurusha, Lord Krishna with Govardhanagiri, Adiseshu, Garuda and Ganga are beautifully, scluptured around the shrine. The most miracle and rare feature is that, Ganga always flows from the feet of Sri Maha Vishnu is the origin of Akasa Ganga and this truth can be witnessed here. The most wonderful architectural beauty of Shrine, and flow of Ganga from the feet of Swamy varu are really unique features and shrine became very sacred. The architectural beauty of idol can not be described in words. Further it gives impression as it is new idol though its origin is of 11th Century.

                                              Ryali Jaganmohini Kesava swamy

Arasavalli suryadeva temple/ ARASAVALLI SUN TEMPLE CONTACT NO

Arasavalli suryadeva temple/Arasavalli suryadeva temple/Arasavalli suryadeva temple/Arasavalli suryadeva temple
Arasavalli  is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to the Sun god Surya, located near the Srikakulam town of Andhra Pradesh, India. The original name Harshavalli means abode of joy. It has SuryaNarayana Swamy (Sun God) as the presiding deity. Ratha Saptami is the most important festival which is celebrated in this temple. People suffering with eye and skin diseases are believed to be cured by the god at this temple. The temple is believed to have been built in the 7th Century AD by the Kalinga rulers Devendra Varma of Orissa.

Once Lord Devendra , Ignoring the words of Dwarapalaka Nandi , attempted to force his entry for Darshan of Sri Rudrakoteswara Swamy varu at an untimely hour when Lord siva was along with his consort . The Dwarapalaka Nandi in the discharge of his duties kicked the intruder . Thus kicked and injured by the Devine attendent Indra fell down senceless . And in his unconscious state Indra dreamt that he would be relieved of his pain of injury in his chest caused by Nandi if he built a temple and installed an Idol of the Sun God . After regaining his consciousness , he remembered what he dreamt .

Following his dream he pickedup handfulls of earth three times at a place where he lay ,and there he found this beautiful idol of sun God with his three consorts Usha , Chaya and Padmini . At the base of the idols are the figures of Mathara and Pingala the Dwarapalakas and high up are the two divine saints , sanaka and sanadana holding 'Chatrams'(An Umbrella ). The Sun God is depicted as riding over a chariot drawn by Anura, the Radhasaradhy . All these figures are exquisitely carved out of a single black finely polished grenite stone.

The temple is built in such a way that the Sun rays fall on the feet of the God twice a year in the months of February and June during the early hours of the day. The rays fall on the feet of idol for a few minutes through the five entrance gates of the temple remin closed. the five idols installed in one place in the temple viz., 1.Aditya 2.Ambica, 3.Vishnu, 4.Ganesha, 5.Maheswara are worshiped by different devotees. The Sun God is depicted as riding on a Chariot drawn by seven horses driven by Aruna. All these figures are exquisitely carved out of a single black granite stone. Sundays during the five months from Magha masam are considered sacred. Every Sunday people from different places from Andhra & Orissa come here for worshiping the Sun God. This temple was built in the Orissa style of temple architecture.

Search for Light and Truth has been the guiding principle of Vedic Seers of hoary antiquity in their earnest endeavors to solve the eternal problems of creation. “Jyotiranveshayamaha” - ‘Let us search for Light, heavenly Light’ was their motto. It is interesting to note that the Royal Astronomical Society of Britain has the same motto, “quick quid nitil notundum” - means, “whatever shines must be observed”. A Russian sentence goes on, “Rays of light are the emissaries of their master, the source of light, the Sun.

Devotees of every age testify to the appearance of God as light. And throughout the world, Light is considered the symbol for all splendor and glory of the Spirit. It stands for Truth, Order, Reality, Goodness, Beauty, Intelligence, Wisdom, Bliss and Immortality or “Amritattwa”. Therefore, the Sun is Light and Life, Love and Law. “Let there be Light! And there was Light”, the Bible saith. The soul of the universe or “Hiranya Garbha” sustains and upholds the entire universe; all animate and inanimate beings live through the Sun.

SRI KURMAM KURMANATH TEMPLE

SRI KURMAM KURMANATH TEMPLE/SRI KURMAM KURMANATH TEMPLE/SRI KURMAM KURMANATH TEMPLE

Sri Kurmam is a Village near Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is located approximately 13 kilometers east of Srikakulam town near the sea. It is in the Gara Mandal of Srikakulam district.

Temple history

According to inscriptions in the temple dated 1281 A.D,[2] the holy place of Kürmakshetra, was actually reestablished by Sri Ramanujacharya under the influence of Jagannatha Deva at Jagannatha Puri, Orissa. Later the temple came under the jurisdiction of the King of Vijayanagara. The deity was worshiped by the Vaishnavas of the Madhvacharya Sampradäya. Some Oriya inscriptions are said to be written by Sri Narahari Teertha, who was in the disciplic succession of Madhvacharya(not to be confused with Madhavacharya). He later became the ruler of Kalinga Province(ancient Orissa) and fought with the Sabaras, and saved the temple of Kürma. Narahari Teertha was a very religious and powerful king who died in the Saka Era 1203. The temple was constructed and dedicated in the holy name of Yogananda Narasimhadeva. This temple was built in the Orissan temple architecture style.

SriKurmam Temple

There is a temple dedicated to Sri Kurmanatha, which is the second avatar of Lord Vishnu, Kurma avatara(Tortoise). This is the only temple of Kurmanatha in India. There is also a Yoganandha Narasimhan temple in front of Sri Kurmam temple. Simhachalam Devasthanam took the responsibility for the temple improvement.

The moolasthanam (central piece) is considered to be large saligrama.[3] The Kurma(Turtle) is known as Sri Kurmam in the 'Sampradayam'. The image is not a sculpture crafted by man, but the fossil of an actual (large-size) turtle, which must have paddled on to the 'kshetram' where the shrine has been built. The head of the deity is in the form of a Kurma (tortoise) and is represented by a Vishnu namam, the tail being represented by a Saligrama presented by Adi Sankaracharya. The artistic beauty of the temple lies in the carvings of Vishnu and other deity statues in a glorious way of architecture. There is a mandapam in front of the temple on Lion pillars. One unique feature of this temple is that it has Dhwajastambams in the front and back of the temple. That is because the deity faces the back of the temple on the west.

Sri Suryanarayana Swami Temple, Pandavula Metta

pandavulametta suryanarayana swamy temple

The Temple is located at a distance of 22 Kms from Kakinada, 45 Kms from Rajahmundry and 85 Kms from Amalapuram. Sakuni who lost his kingdom and who lost his father in the Yuga of Dwapara wanted to take revenge against Kuru race kings. So that he entered the kingdom of Duryodhana as his uncle. Sakuni was a scholar in Numerology. He captivated the heart of Duryodhana with his pleasant words. In fact Sakuni's main aim was to ruin Kourava and Pandava people totally.

One day Duryodhana invited the Pandava brothers to participate in gambling. Sakuni had a spiritual power of his father. The both parties started the gambling, but with the spiritual power of the Sakuni's father Duryodhana got victory. According to the game rule Pandava brothers should leave their Kingdom for 12 years and spend 1 year unknowingly. Totally the period should be 13 years. So Pandava brothers left their kingdom and started to visit several places in India. On their way to Rameswaram they stayed some years in Peddapuram on a hill, which was located in between Bay of Bengal and the river Godavari.

The hill was in a Jungle. Only Koya people were there. Because Addateegala, Rajavommangi and Peddapuram were the main places of Koya people.

The Pandava brothers arranged a tunnel way to Rajahmundry from this hill through which tunnel they used to have river bath. This hill was named after their name.

pandavulametta caves

"PANDAVULA METTA" till today we can find Pandava names and Draupathi names in Koya people. The entrance of the tunnel is there today. The rest of the tunnel was disturbed in the Yuga changes. After some time they left the hill for Rameswaram. The hill is there today. People constructed temple on the hill and arranged the steps to the hill also.

There was a small village near to this hill in those days. In the Yuga of Kaliyuga 1450 BC. One man named, Peddapatrudu occupied the place and ruled that place. He constructed a fort. People named that place as "PEDDAPURAM". The fort constructed in 38 Acres. Later Vatsavaya kings occupied the village and started their ruling. From 1714 BC. to 1694 BC. was ruled by Sri Raja Vatsavaya Kala Thimma Jagapathi Bagadhoor. His father's name was Vudhanda Raya Jagapathi. In those days the Delhi rulers arranged one representative. His name was Nizam.

After running of Delhi rulers, the representative declared self - ruling. He arranged Mr. Anwarudhin as his representative to collect revenue from Godavari District. Mr. Anwarudhin appointed a person named Mr. Rusthum Khan as his assistant.

One day Mr. Rusthum Khan came to Peddapuram, stayed on the Pandavula Metta, and invited the Peddapuram rulers to have a good talk. Mrs Ragavamma sent her three sons with small escorts to meet Mr.Rusthum Khan. Mr. Rusthum Khan welcomed to his room and very next month he killed the three brothers with sword. The news came to Mrs. Ragavamma garu. She sent her only one grand son to Vijayanagaram and closed the fort gates. She asked the every women of the fort to come to the gun powder room and closed the room doors include her. Their faithful servant Mr. Challa Pedda fired the room the total women of the fort were burnt in that fire.

In those days there was Rushi culture and traditions in that jungle area. Sri Chaya, Padmini, Prabha, Prajna Devi, sametha Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Vari temple was planned and constructed by Sri Saluri Venkata Subbarao garu, hailed as Raja Yogi and pancha Pranavananda in the year 1952 and has a history of five decades. The temple and Sanctum sanctorum is on the hill top, popularly known as Pandavula Metta.

In those days, it was very isolated surrounded by palm trees and thorny bushes. Sri Salluri Subbarao carried the work single handedly and cleared the area for construction of the temple and planted a number of tree plants. Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Varu, the main deity or Archamurty of the temple faces the East and rising sun from Bay of Bengal which is just 22 Km away.

During these five decades, the temple became Panchayatana, Navagraha, Sri Suryana Swamy vari devastanam. Lord Sri Krishna, Lord Siva, Lord Sri Venkateswara, Sri Gayatri Matha and Hill Goddess from the five deities of the panchayatana order besides the Navagrahas. Lord Sri Valli sametha Sri Subramanyeswara Swamy vari temple is in the North-West side of the temple.

Pandava Caves

There are also two natural caves on the hill facing East . It is widely believed that the Pandavas of Epic Mahabharatha lived here for some time during their 'Aranyavasa'. "Bheemunipadalu' (prints of Bheema's feet, the second brother of Pandavas) can be seen on a hill rock behind the temple. It is also believed that there is tunnel from this place to Rajahmundry.

One has to cover 108 steps to reach the temple on this hill/Metta Recently, a very good motorable road was laid by the Government to reach the police Repeater station and the temple. The height of Pandavula Metta is about 200 Feet. Hence, one can experience excellent sea breeze in all seasons. The sea (Bay of Bengal) is just 22 Km away. The area around the temple is surrounded by mango, plam and other trees and Tapioca plantation giving well laid green carpet beside the serene beauty and sanctity of the deity. As the temple is in the hands of private persons, not run by Endowments Department, the development is slow, and facilities provided to pilgrims are meager.

A visitor to this Metta can also plan a small trip engaging a Taxi / Auto at a rate just Rs.100-150/- and can also see the following Ancient temples

1. Sri Maridammavari temple, Sri Sivalayam / Sri Venkateswara Temple 1Km away from Peddapuram

2. Sri Nokalamma Vari Temple Kandrakota Village Peddapuram Mandal 8 Km.

3. Sri Sringara Vallabha Swami Vari Temple Tirupathi village Peddapuram Mandal. 11 Km from Peddapuram, 3 Km from Kandrakota.

4. Sri Anjaneya Swamy Vari Temple (hailed as the Asia's highest Anjaneya Swamy Vari Statue (52 ft.), run by Kanchi Sringeri Peetham). Between Samlakot and Peddapuram 4 Km.

The distance is given from Peddapuram town. The route is Peddapuram - Kandrakota, Tirupathi (via Marlava), Samalakota (via Divili), Peddapuram. A visitor will certainly enjoy the trip and can have a darshan of these age - old temples.

Festivals

Radha Saptami, which falls on "Magha Sudda Saptami" in the month of February.

Subramanya Shashti which falls on "Margasira Shudda Shashti' during November / December".

Apart from that a number of devotees visit the temple on every Sunday and offer prayers.

Accommodation

There is no facilities of accommodation for over night stay on the hill top / Metta as the temple is run by a private individuals and not by Endowment Department. The temple and the Archakas are surviving on the contributions given by the pilgrims.

There is a "Guest House" adjacent to the police wireless repeater station only meant for occasionally visiting officials and not for others. However, there are excellent and affordable lodging facilities are available in Peddapuram Town.
